After months of careful planning, our day of departure seemed to come around fast. Departing from Auckland on LAN Airlines’ afternoon flight LA800 via Santiago in Chile, our final destination Lima, Peru. Last to board the flight and cutting things a little bit too fine for me, but making it just in time for our pre-takeoff drinks. Buckled in and breathing a huge sigh of relief – we were onboard and ready for takeoff.
The LAN crew swept into action and captivated us in no time; fussing over
us making sure that we were comfortable. We were almost in a trance by the time the aircraft levelled off at the peak of
LAN’s Premium Business cabins are extra wide and well set-up with a generous amount of room and leg space. The overhead luggage lockers are large enough to fit a person in.
For passengers who wish to work and fly there is ample room but in this instance our spacious and comfortable cabin found us in holiday mode.
During our flight we had the choice of two menus – Express for those who prefer to eat and maximise their rest time or the Standard Menu – a more leisurely service with alcoholic beverages to match. We chose the latter. A nice cold appetiser to start – prosciutto, bocconcini and sundried tomatoes paired with a Chilean pinot noir, followed by Hapuka served with soy and honey sauce, Thai-style rice and steamed bok choy, all fresh and simply delicious. Room for dessert – a choice of ice cream, passion fruit cheesecake or fresh fruit salad followed by a moreish selection of cheese. No room for tea, coffee or a nightcap, although it was offered.
After applying the moisturiser from the complimentary Salvatore Ferragamo amenity kit, I turned off the gentle back massage seat setting and adjusted it to lay flat. Pulling up the lovely white duvet made sleep mode an easy transition for the long haul to South America.
The Dreamliner is an amazing aircraft.
The flight was exceptionally smooth and quiet with all the latest generation technology; surround sound for announcements, bigger than usual
TV screen, extra large windows with
touch pad dimmer and automatic ambience lighting throughout, even in
